Technological Process

There are differences in the production processes among dehydrated organic fruit and vegetables (spinach, beet, broccoli, kale, celery, carrots, peppers, apples, etc.) and organic barley grass powder and alfalfa grass powder, etc. There may also be differences in the processing of different varieties of the same type of product. However, processes usually include the following:

  • Fresh ingredients arrive. As soon as raw materials have been harvested, they are delivered to the plant. After removal of impurities and rejects, they are processed immediately to ensure freshness.
  • Washing fresh raw materials. Deep well water that meets drinking water standards is used to wash the materials repeatedly to thoroughly remove surface silt and dust.
  • Blanching. After washing, the raw materials are steam blanched to sterilize and prevent discoloration, alteration of taste and nutrient loss.
  • Cooling. After blanching, the raw materials are immediately cooled in iced water to prevent residual heat from destroying the nutrient content and stop the multiplication of microorganisms.
  • Draining. After cooling, the raw materials are drained ready for drying.
  • Drying. Different temperatures are set for different stages of drying so as to prevent discoloration when the water content drops to within six percent.
  • Sterilization and superfine grinding. After drying, the materials are either sterilized with steam before putting in the superfine grinder, or they go through superfine grinding directly and are then steamed for a moment to sterilize. This keeps the number of microorganisms in the superfine powder within an acceptable range.
